Undulating 9K In Uplawmoor
Festival of running returns to this East Renfrewshire village in 2026...
A community event with a charitable focus will return this spring as the Uplawmoor Festival of Running takes place on 16 May. The event centres on a 9K road race run entirely on local B roads local to the East Renfrewshire village.
Organisers say the course is known for its fast finish but offers a challenging profile, featuring an early 200 foot climb within the opening two kilometres before a descent and a series of undulating sections. Runners then face a sustained climb around the midpoint before a gradual rise gives way to a downhill run to the finish.
All proceeds from the event will be donated to Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH), continuing the race’s strong fundraising focus. Support for the 2026 staging comes from Run Llama, which is backing the event for a second consecutive year.
Event organiser John O’Donnell said: "The festival aims to balance competition with inclusivity, encouraging people to take part at their own pace, including those who wish to walk the route." O’Donnell previously completed the Marathon des Sables in 2024 in support of SAMH, finishing as the fourth British runner and second in the over 50 category.
Prizes will be awarded to the first male and female finishers, with additional awards for second and third place.
