Scurry To The Sea is a 12 mile mixed terrain race from Hillend Ski Centre to the finish on Musselburgh Fisherrow Harbour Beach. Beginning with a climb to the summit of Allermuir Hill in the Pentland Hills, the route then heads towards the coast across a mixture of cross country trails, urban paths and roads.
The event combines marked sections with self navigation between mandatory checkpoints, allowing runners to choose their own route through Edinburgh before reaching the seaside finish. Organised as a pre entry event for runners aged 16 and over, the course ends with the traditional run across the sand before the finish line on Musselburgh Beach.
Scurry To The Sea follows a memorable route from the Pentland Hills to the East Lothian coastline, taking in woodland paths, parks, urban green spaces and coastal trails along the way. The journey from hilltop to beach, together with the freedom to navigate between checkpoints, gives the race a distinctive character that sets it apart on the Scottish running calendar.
