To PB or not to PB at Stratford’s Big 10K?
That is the question for participants this Sunday.
Shakespeare’s birthplace is staging a Big 10K from Tempo Events and runners will be hoping to perform at their best. Their reward is a Bard of Avon inspired medal at the finish.
On Sunday (4 September) runners from near and far take to the roads at Stratford’s Big 10K on a course which encompasses town and country. It is undulating in the early sections but nothing extreme and flat after that until the finish. The route goes past the famous RSC Theatre.
This is a picturesque race as one might expect, being held in the popular visitor attraction of Stratford-upon-Avon. Tourists from around the world descend on this Warwickshire market town to take in the sights and this weekend, a large contingent will soak up the atmosphere on their way to personal glory.
They leave Shipston Road at 9.30am along a scenic route, continuing towards Milcote before heading back via the Greenway: a nice downhill section past the Courtyard Theatre and the RSC then onwards to the finish in Stratford Recreation Ground.
There is a 1K race for youngsters, in conjunction with Marathon Kids UK, starting at 11am and held within the Recreation Ground.
All’s well that ends well for those who achieve a PB and can round off a successful day by exploring the medieval town, visiting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage and other famous Skakespearean landmarks.
The race is sponsored by Lodders Solicitors LLP and Nuffield Health with The Time Out Group the charity partner.
If racing be the food of love, run on and if we torture the Shakespearean metaphor any further there's a chance we might end up in the Hague. ;-)
