A Scenic New 10K Heads To Ellesmere
Closed road 10K combines Ellesmere town centre with scenic Shropshire countryside this August...
This relates to: Ellesmere 10K
The Ellesmere 10K takes place on Sunday 23 August 2026, bringing a brand new closed road race to one of Shropshire's most attractive market towns.
Starting and finishing on Scotland Street in the heart of Ellesmere, the race has been designed to welcome runners of all abilities, from those chasing a personal best to participants taking on their first organised 10K. The fully closed roads provide a safe and enjoyable environment while creating a fantastic atmosphere for runners and spectators alike.
After leaving the town centre, the route heads into the surrounding countryside, passing the impressive grounds of Ellesmere College before returning to Ellesmere for the finish. The course combines fast sections with a handful of gentle inclines, offering an enjoyable balance of speed and scenery across quiet rural roads.
Every finisher will receive a commemorative medal and post race goodies, while prizes will be awarded to the leading male and female runners along with a range of age category winners. The event also supports The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital Charity, giving participants the opportunity to help a worthwhile local cause while taking on the challenge.
With parking close to the race headquarters, a friendly event village and enthusiastic local support expected around the course, the Ellesmere 10K promises a memorable race day experience from start to finish.
As a new addition to the Shropshire running calendar, the Ellesmere 10K combines the appeal of a closed road race with picturesque countryside running and a welcoming community atmosphere. It looks set to become a popular late summer fixture for runners from across the Midlands and beyond.
