Run Sandringham 2026

Run Through Royal History At Sandringham

Royal Estate hosts scenic autumn running festival...

Run Sandringham Half Marathon returns on Sunday 27 September 2026, inviting runners of all ages and abilities to experience one of Britain's most distinctive race venues. Taking place within the famous Sandringham Estate in Norfolk, the event features a Half Marathon, 5K and Community Mile, with thousands of participants expected to enjoy a day of running in the surroundings of the Royal Family's country estate.

The courses begin and finish within the estate before weaving along a mixture of traffic free roads and scenic trails through the parkland. Runners pass directly in front of Sandringham House while enjoying views across the estate, creating a race experience that combines natural beauty with one of the country's best known royal landmarks. The varied terrain makes appropriate footwear essential while offering a memorable alternative to a traditional road race.

The event village opens from 8.00am, with the 5K starting at 9.00am, the Half Marathon at 10.00am and the Community Mile at 12.15pm. Chip timing is provided for the Half Marathon and 5K, while every finisher receives a bespoke medal and finish line goodies. Trophies are awarded to the leading male and female runners as well as age category winners, and experienced marshals and medical teams are positioned around the course to support participants throughout the day.

Sustainability also plays an important role, with the event operating as a plastic free race. Water stations are available around the course and runners are encouraged to bring refillable bottles that can be topped up along the route. The event is licensed by the Trail Running Association and is held under UK Athletics rules, helping ensure a professionally managed race day experience.

Run Sandringham welcomes experienced runners, newcomers and families alike. The Community Mile is open to participants aged four and over, provided younger children are accompanied by an adult, while the 5K is open to runners aged 12 and above and the Half Marathon to those aged 17 or over. With ample parking available within the estate and premium parking close to the start, travelling to the event is straightforward for both runners and spectators.

Whether you're chasing a Half Marathon personal best, enjoying a scenic 5K or introducing younger runners to their first organised event, Run Sandringham offers a memorable day in an extraordinary setting. Few races provide the opportunity to run through historic royal parkland while supporting good causes, making this one of the highlights of the East Anglian running calendar.
