Autumnal Running In Shropshire
Two great trail options on the horizon for runners in Shropshire...
The BC Autumn 10K will return on 5 October following the success of last year’s inaugural event. Starting and finishing at The Church Barn in Bishop’s Castle, the race once again promises a scenic challenge through the rolling Shropshire countryside.
Runners can look forward to the same beautiful route as in 2024, complete with hills, muddy puddles, stiles and a stream crossing. Every finisher will receive a versatile medal that doubles as a coaster, along with a well-earned doughnut at the finish line.
Organisers tell us: "This event is open to all ages and abilities and has been designed to be inclusive and pressure-free, with no cut-off time. It’s also a dog-friendly event, with canine companions welcome to join their owners on the course and rewarded with their very own doggy medal!"
You could also set your sights on a slightly longer challenge later in the year - the Runningmonk Midway Trail takes place on 23 November, starting again at The Church Barn. Covering around nine miles of single track, fields, forestry and local footpaths, the route follows parts of the Shropshire Way and Kerry Ridgeway with around 1,700 feet of elevation.
Both events capture the spirit of Shropshire trail running with friendly organisation, stunning scenery and a welcoming atmosphere. If you'd like to know more, visit the Running Monk website.
