Petzl Night Trails 10K

Running After Dark

Experience the thrill of night running at these two evening races scheduled for this autumn...

Running after dark brings its own unique buzz, and Big Bear Events are once again giving trail runners the chance to test themselves under the stars. The first of their two popular night races is almost here, with the Petzl Night Trails 10K at Coombe Abbey Park near Coventry taking place on 30 September - and there is still time to get your space!

The setting promises a mix of woodland, meadow, and open fields, with conditions dependent on the weather in the run-up to the race. Expect uneven ground, tree roots, gates, and plenty of variety along a route that is undulating but not hilly.

To take part, every runner must carry a head or chest torch, and as the sun dips no one will finish without one. Petzl, the event’s partner, will be on hand to showcase their latest head torches, giving runners the chance to compare high-quality kit against budget alternatives.

Hot on the heels of Coombe Abbey, the second event in the series takes place on 21 November at Northamptonshire's Salcey Forest. While the terrain there is largely flat, organisers know that even the slightest incline feels like a mountain during a night-time trail race.

Both events promise a medal, goodies, and the trademark Big Bear welcome that keeps runners coming back year after year.
