The Secret's Out In Suffolk...

The Ipswich Half Marathon is back on 21st September 2025...

Jane Tomlinson's Run For All events organisation team was behind the revival of the much-loved Ipswich Half Marathon in 2022, with 822 finishers in the county town of Suffolk. Participant numbers increased to 1,302 in 2023, and more than 2,000 competed last year as the Suffolk secret was out!

Run For All is bringing the Larking Gowen Ipswich Half Marathon back to Suffolk on Sunday, 21 September 2025. Thousands of runners are expected to reach personal goals while raising huge amounts of cash for deserving charities within the local community and beyond.

The primary objective of every Run For All event is to provide a fundraising vehicle for charities as well as ensuring the money being raised stays local and supports the causes that need it most, whether it’s for a charity close to the participants' hearts or one of the event’s official partners.

The race will start and finish at the 30,000-capacity Portman Road Stadium – home of the EFL Championship side Ipswich Town FC, established in 1878 – and will see runners pass the River Orwell and local landmarks like the redeveloped Ipswich Waterfront, the 67-acre Holywells Park, and Fox’s Marina and Boatyard.

Last year's winners were Jack Nixon (St Edmund Pacers, 1:08:03) and Claire Jacobs (Hadleigh Hares AC, 1:20:27). Nixon's time was the fastest since the race returned in 2022, while the fastest female in the new era is W40 Lucy Nichol (1:15:06), who was third overall in 2022.

The low-lying land at Ipswich has lower-than-average rainfall, and mean daily temperatures are between 10-20C in September, pretty much perfect conditions for comfortable running.

Designed to be accessible for all, the event organisers encourage participants of all abilities to wheel, walk, jog, or run, promoting inclusivity regardless of physical ability. Participants will be rewarded with a finisher’s goody bag and an exclusive medal, with an option to pre-order a finisher's T-shirt and add an engraving to their medal with iTAB.
