Back on song this weekend at the Great Eastern Run
The event returns to Peterborough after a four year absence.
This Sunday (16 October), Peterborough will echo to the sound of pounding feet once again at the Great Eastern Run. It is under new management at Good Running Events and boasts a Half Marathon and 5K to tempt runners of all ages and abilities back to this cathedral city.
There are only days to go until the Great Eastern Run Half Marathon and Anna’s Hope 5K Fun Run and the opportunity for many to try the redesigned route on closed roads around the city. These changes aim to improve the experience for participants as they focus on their individual goals and the fast, flat course will help them achieve this.
If you are targeting a PB then this is the place to do it and a team of pacers supported by Savills is on hand to help you do just that. Look out for them in the pens at the start.
The action begins at 8am with the opening of the Event Village at 8am. The warm up for the 5K Fun Run takes place at 8.30am followed by the actual 5K at 9am with finishers receiving a medal for their efforts.
The half marathon runners warm up at 10am ahead of their race at 10.30am (wheelchair athletes set off at 10.25am) which starts at Bishops Road. The entire route is on roads and goes around the city centre – includes a stretch past the Norman cathedral – before finishing on Bishops Road. There are 5 water stations along the way to cater for hydration needs.
Finishers in this race also receive a medal and if they have purchased an official race t-shirt (in a fetching Royal Blue colour) they can collect it on the day.
