West Lothian 5K Race Returns In 2025

A much-loved event returns to the Scottish race calendar later this month...

After a brief hiatus, the West Lothian College 5K Road Race is set to make its return on Wednesday, 28 May. Organised by the college’s HNC Sports Coaching students, the event is open to the wider community as well as staff and students from the college, promising an inclusive and exciting evening of running.

The race will start and finish within the college grounds, taking participants on a scenic 5K route through the heart of Livingston. Runners can expect a varied course that includes tarmac paths, trail sections and short stretches on the road, with three notable hills adding an extra challenge.

Jessica Westcough, Active Campus Coordinator at the college, shared her enthusiasm for the event’s comeback: “Our HNC Sports Coaching students are excited to bring it back, not just for everyone at the college, but for the entire community. It was a well-attended and much-loved event before COVID, and we’re eager to reignite that same excitement. We encourage everyone to get involved.”

The race is open to runners aged 16 and over. Participants will also benefit from free parking, changing facilities, toilets and water stations. This 5K event is an ideal midweek challenge and a much welcome return to the Scottish racing calendar.
