One Mile, Lots Of Smiles

Whether you run sub-five or sub-15, expect to be cheered every step of the way at this mile event...

The Scottish Mile is back for 2025 and it promises to be a memorable occasion once more. Taking place on 14 September at Silverknowes Promenade in Edinburgh, this accessible, feel-good event invites runners of all ages and abilities to take part in what organisers call 'a celebration of one shared mile'.

Set along a scenic, flat stretch beside the Firth of Forth, the course offers wide views, fresh sea air, and an extra boost from a helpful tailwind - with organisers selecting the direction on race day to avoid headwinds. Whether you’re a beginner looking for a fun challenge, a casual runner out for a social jog or an elite athlete chasing a personal best, The Scottish Mile welcomes everyone.

This short and spirited race stands out in the Blast Running calendar, not just for its length but for its inclusive ethos. Organisers are proud to say they’ve been championing the motto 'your race, your pace' since 2019, long before the phrase started appearing elsewhere. The event offers two waves: an Open Mile for anyone who wants to join in at any pace, and an Elite Mile for competitive runners looking to race hard, with qualifying times set at sub-5 minutes for men and sub-6 for women.

Organisers say: "This event is more than just a race. It’s about community connection and supporting a cause. All proceeds go to Alzheimer Scotland, helping ensure that nobody in Scotland faces dementia alone. Every stride taken on the promenade helps make a difference."
