Overload Run Returns
Derbyshire's ultimate obstacle course offers an unforgettable challenge wrapped in fun, fitness and a whole lot of mud...
Overload Run is back and promises to be the ultimate weekend for runners who like things muddy, gritty and packed with adrenaline. Taking place on 23 August, this obstacle-packed event invites participants to take on Derbyshire’s toughest terrain - whether by day or night.
Overload is more than just a run; it’s a full-blown test of endurance and determination. Each 5-6K lap is loaded with approximately 30 natural and man-made obstacles, including walls to climb, mud pits to crawl through, monkey bars to conquer. There's even a vertical slide! Runners are welcome to complete as many laps as they can while the course remains open, with no extra cost for additional laps.
The event caters to a range of abilities and goals. Competitive athletes can sign up for the UKOCR Trophy Race Wave, where prizes await the first, second and third male and female runners across the finish line, provided they complete every obstacle. For those more focused on personal challenge and fun, Open Waves encourage runners to step out of their comfort zone and enjoy a sense of accomplishment at the finish line.
Families are also welcome, with a dedicated Family Wave that allows children to run alongside adults. Young participants are encouraged to take on the same obstacles with a little help from parents, and every child who finishes will receive a unique Overload medal.
The course is designed to be as entertaining for spectators as it is for participants, with over 80% of the obstacles visible from viewing areas. Once the mud settles, runners can refuel and relax with on-site food vendors and entertainment.
For those wanting to make a weekend of it, camping is available on both Friday and Saturday night, campers benefit from premium parking next to the event village, exclusive facilities and easy access to showers.
