A popular event on the Midlands' race calendar has just got even better with news that Stratford's Big 10K will add a half marathon distance to proceedings this year.

Scheduled for 3 September, Stratford’s Big 10K has grown in popularity to become a highly regarded race that attracts a good mix of club athletes, charity runners and those attempting the distance for the first time.

Organised by Tempo Events it offers a scenic route that shows everything Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon has to offer with a finish coming past the Bards RSC Theatre. Runners are also always rewarded with enthusiastic marshals and supportive atmosphere and it is hoped that this will continue with the addition of the new race.

Speaking about the decision to add the new distance, organisers said: "It’s taken lots of thought and planning but we’re adding a half marathon alongside Stratford’s Big 10K this year!

"It was really sad to see the disappearance of the town's usual marathon and half marathon event back in April and we feel that Stratford-upon-Avon should have a 13.1 miler, so we’ve put our collective brains together and have come up with what will hopefully be a regular autumnal event."
