New Trail Race For Leven
Letham Glen Centenary to be celebrated with scenic 5K trail race...
On Sunday 14 September, runners will have the chance to celebrate a century of one of Fife’s most beloved green spaces as Nuts Trail Races hosts a special 5K event in honour of Letham Glen’s 100th anniversary. Organised in collaboration with Leven Community Council, the Letham Glen Centenary 5K Trail Race will take place within the picturesque surroundings of the Glen, offering participants a scenic and undulating trail route through woodland paths and natural landscapes.
This 5K is part of a year-long programme of events marking the centenary of Letham Glen, a treasured recreational space nestled in a woodland valley near Leven. Finishers will receive a specially commissioned commemorative medal to mark the occasion and there will be prizes awarded to the top three male and female runners overall, as well as to the first male and female local finishers living within the Leven postcode area.
Letham Glen was established in 1925 thanks to a donation from retired farmer John Letham, whose contribution helped secure the land as a public park for the people of Leven. Over the decades, it has become a cherished destination for families, walkers and nature lovers, and it continues to play a central role in the community’s outdoor life.
The centenary celebrations began earlier this year with an Easter Fun Day in April and will continue throughout the year. Highlights include an Open-Air Cinema Day planned for July, the return of Glenfest on September 6 with live music and festival fun and a Winter Wonderland experience from December 12 to 14 that will wrap up the festivities in seasonal style.
