Magic On The Monsal Trail

Scenic autumnal running guaranteed at this trail race weekend...

Runners are in for a spectacular weekend in the heart of the Peak District as the Monsal Trail October Half Marathon and 10K returns on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October. Set in the picturesque surroundings of Bakewell, Derbyshire, this popular event offers participants the chance to race along one of the region’s most iconic and scenic trails.

The races begin at the historic Bakewell Station site and follow the traffic-free Monsal Trail, a former Midland Railway line now transformed into a runner’s dream route. The course leads participants through four atmospheric railway tunnels and over the breathtaking Monsal Viaduct, with sweeping views of the Derbyshire Dales throughout.

With both half marathon and 10K distances available on both days, runners can choose to take part on Saturday, Sunday, or even challenge themselves by running across both days. The event is a favourite for those in the midst of autumn marathon training, offering a well-supported and inspiring race setting at just the right time of year.

All finishers will receive a bespoke medal and there will be free event photographs along with trophies and prizes for top performers. The friendly and welcoming atmosphere makes the event suitable for runners of all abilities, whether chasing a personal best or enjoying the views at a steady pace.

Organisers say: "Our Monsal Trail races continue to grow in popularity thanks to their combination of stunning Peak District scenery and inclusive spirit, please come join us and see what it's all about."
