The Midway Point
Take on a scenic nine-mile challenge in the Shropshire Hills this autumn...
Runningmonk's Midway Trail returns on 23 November with a nine-mile course that blends scenic single-track trails, open fields and peaceful forestry around Bishop’s Castle in Shropshire. This friendly and inclusive trail event is ideal for those looking for something in between a 10K and a half marathon.
Organisers say: "We have had so many conversations with runners looking for an event that was in-between a 10K and half marathon, so here we are with our 9ish mile trail run, that will take you along sections of the Shropshire Way, Offas’s Dyke and more!"
Covering approximately 1700 feet of elevation, the course offers enough climbing to challenge without overwhelming, and with no cut-off time, runners are free to take things at their own pace. Whether pushing for a time or simply soaking up the countryside's stunning views.
All finishers will be rewarded with a bespoke medal and a well-earned doughnut at the finish line. Dogs are welcome on the course too, provided they are kept on a lead. Organisers do note that some stiles may be awkward for larger dogs, so participants are encouraged to ensure the route suits their four-legged companions, who will also receive their own doggy medal.
For those looking to ease into trail running or simply wanting a new experience on a crisp autumn morning, the Midway Trail could be the perfect fit.
