Stomp Around Leicester
Make your summer miles count on Leicester's elephant trail...
This summer, Leicester’s streets are being taken over by an unforgettable herd – and runners are invited to chase them down. From 14 July to 21 September, the city will be home to 40 giant elephant sculptures and 82 baby elephants as part of a spectacular public art trail created by LOROS Hospice and Wild in Art. Whether you’re logging training miles, planning a scenic long run, or looking for a new club social, the Stomp Round Leicester trail offers a unique way to explore the city.
This elephant-sized art installation is the perfect opportunity to add some fun to your running routine. Create a route that weaves past the sculptures, plan a club challenge to find them all, or simply enjoy ticking them off during your weekly runs. Each elephant has been uniquely decorated by artists from near and far, and the trail covers both familiar landmarks and hidden corners of Leicester.
To get started, pick up a trail map with a suggested £2 donation from the Stomp Hub Shop at This + That by LOROS (46 High Street), or download the Stomp Round Leicester app from Google Play or the App Store. Use it to plan your elephant-hunting routes, log which ones you’ve spotted, and share your runs with others.
The trail celebrates the 40th anniversary of LOROS Hospice and aims to raise vital funds to support its work across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. It follows the success of Rocket Round Leicester in 2021 and is already shaping up to be an even bigger event.
So lace up, run happy, and turn your summer training into a stomp-worthy adventure. Whether it’s a solo tempo run or a sociable club outing, there’s never been a better reason to get out and run Leicester.
