Pick Your Next Midweek Race

Popular Grand Prix series returns for the summer season...

The East Midlands Grand Prix Road Race Series is back for 2025, offering runners eight midweek evening events across the region, each with its own unique character and challenges. This long-running series blends friendly competition with club camaraderie and scenic road routes, making it a staple of the local running calendar.

The 2025 series kicked off in style on 6 May with the Silverstone 10K, where more than 1,700 runners took on the fast course around the iconic motor racing circuit. With the tone set for another strong year, attention now turns to the next seven races spread through May, June and July.

The format allows runners to dip in and out of events, but those keen to compete for the overall series standings must complete at least five races. Rankings are based on a runner’s best five performances across the series, with both individual race and overall prizes up for grabs.

Next up is the Blisworth 5 on Friday 16 May, hosted by Wootton Road Runners. This event starts from Blisworth Football Club and features a rural, undulating figure-of-eight route. The following week, the action moves to Banbury for a five-mile race with three moderate hills, organised by Banbury Harriers on Tuesday 20 May.

June brings a trio of races, starting with the Harborough 5 on 3 June, followed by the scenic and undulating Weedon 10K on 17 June and the hilly Corby 5 on 25 June. July closes the series with two more events: the flat and fast Milton Keynes 10K around Willen Lake on 1 July, and the Rugby Six on 9 July, a six-mile loop through the countryside near St Andrews RFC.

The EMGP series is coordinated by Marshall Milton Keynes AC and supported by several local clubs. It remains one of the best-loved road race series in the East Midlands, offering a mix of competitive spirit, variety in terrain and a strong community feel.
