Five New Miles
There's a new route in 2026 for this popular 5 miler in Cheshire...
Entries are expected to fill quickly for this year's Chris Lam Memorial 5 Miler as organisers confirm a new route for the popular off road race in Widnes.
The event, staged on 10 May by Widnes Running Club in memory of club member Chris Lam, will once again start and finish in Clock Face Country Park. Runners will take on a revised multi terrain course designed to include more trail, more woodland and less road, offering an even more immersive off road experience.
The five mile route passes through Maypole Wood and Griffin Wood, with organisers warning competitors to expect challenging conditions underfoot, including sections that can become particularly muddy depending on the weather. Organisers told us: "Our race is known for its supportive atmosphere, with spectators lining the woodland paths to encourage runners throughout."
All finishers will receive a medal, goody bag and water at the finish, with prizes awarded to the top three male and female runners. A post race drink will also be available as participants gather for the presentation near the start and finish area.
Following a sell out event last year, runners are being encouraged to secure places early for what promises to be another memorable tribute run in scenic surroundings.
