One of the fastest 10K races in the UK is back for 2025, with entries for the Wilne 10K already in high demand. The 14th edition of this popular road race takes place on 7 September and promises another superb day of racing in South Derbyshire.
Renowned for its flat and fast course, the Wilne 10K attracts runners of all abilities, from those looking to complete their first 10K to experienced athletes chasing personal bests. The fully closed-road route features just 5.6 metres of elevation difference between its highest and lowest points, making it a firm favourite for those targeting quick times.
Runners will enjoy a scenic and traffic-free loop that follows the River Derwent, winds through gentle bends and passes landmarks including St. Chad’s Water and the church opposite. This year race will also host the 2025 Derbyshire Athletics 10K Championships, drawing a competitive field and a lively race atmosphere.
An extensive prize structure rewards top performers, adding extra incentive on this proven PB course. The male course record stands at 29:10, set by Ben Connor of Derby Athletics Club in 2024, while the female record of 33:02 was set by Jessica Coulson of Stockport Harriers & AC in 2014.
The Race Village is located beside Orchid Wood, just a short walk from the event car park, and serves as the central hub for runners and spectators to gather, relax and celebrate their achievements.
