Thirty & Beyond For Thirsk
This popular 10 miler is expected to attract a full field once again next March...
Entries are now open for the 2026 Thirsk 10 Mile Road Race which will take place on 22 March at Thirsk Racecourse. With just 1,100 places available organisers are urging early entry for what is traditionally a sell-out event.
The race follows a fast, flat route through Sandhutton, Busby Stoop and Carlton Miniott before finishing at the racecourse. The current course has proved popular in recent years, offering PB potential for runners of all abilities.
Organised by Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers, the Thirsk 10 has a history spanning more than 30 years. While the route has evolved over time in response to traffic and road closure challenges, it remains a well-established fixture on the spring road racing calendar. The club has previously hosted the North of England 10 Mile Championship, Yorkshire Veterans Championships and the North Yorkshire Championships.
The 2026 event comes at a special time for the organising club, which has been awarded the King’s Award for Voluntary Service for 2025. The honour recognises Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers’ contribution to promoting community participation in sport, improving fitness and health and supporting social inclusion. It is the highest award a voluntary group can receive in the UK.
