Terry's Legacy Remembered In Wrexham

Help fight cancer in Wrexham this autumn...

The Terry Fox Run is returning to Wrexham on 5 October, celebrating the legacy of Canadian hero Terry Fox and raising funds for The Institute of Cancer Research.

Terry Fox’s story is one of courage and determination. In 1980, after undergoing cancer treatment that required the amputation of his leg, he set out from Canada’s easternmost coast to run 26 miles a day with a prosthetic leg. His goal was to raise money for cancer research, and his legacy continues to inspire people around the world.

Canadian actor and Wrexham AFC co-owner Ryan Reynolds said: “I’ve been doing this run since I was a little kid. The Terry Fox Foundation has helped countless people - standing on the shoulders of the great, Terry Fox.”

Participants in Wrexham can register to run, ride or walk 2.5K or 5K along the route. The event is free to enter, non-competitive and open to all, with donations supporting vital cancer research led by dedicated scientists at The Institute of Cancer Research.

The Terry Fox Run takes place annually in 75 cities worldwide and has raised over £550 million for cancer research. This is the second year the event is being held in Wrexham, building on the success of last year and bringing Terry’s inspiring message to the local community once again.
