Skylark Run Returns
This event offers the rare opportunity to run around three picturesque fishing lakes in the heart of the Fens...
The Skylark Run will return on 4 October, bringing runners back to the glorious fenland countryside for a multi-terrain challenge around Skylark Lakes. After the success of its inaugural outing, the event is set to be even bigger and better this year, with new routes, chip timing and a focus on fun, fitness and fundraising.
Participants can choose from three distances, with a family mile for all ages, a 5K option for those looking to test themselves over a shorter course and a 10K route for runners wanting more of a challenge. All races will be set against the backdrop of the lakes complex, an area usually closed to the public, offering the rare opportunity to run around three picturesque fishing lakes in the heart of the Fens.
Every competitor will receive a bespoke medal and goody bag, with category prizes also up for grabs. Free parking and toilets will be available on site and water stations will keep runners hydrated as they make their way around the scenic course. With all profits being donated to Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life, the Skylark Run combines a great cause with a rewarding day of running.
The organisers are also calling for volunteers to help on the day. In return, helpers can expect a bacon butty and unlimited tea as thanks for their support. Spectators are welcome too, with the event offering a rare glimpse of the beautiful lakes that are usually off limits to the public.
