Take It To The Bridge(s)
We don't want to wish 2025 away already, but you'll need to be quick to get a spot at this autumn 10K...
Looking ahead to early autumn and a race that you will have to be quick to nab a spot in - Shropshire's Severn Bridges 10K Road Race which will take place on 7 September.
This popular West Midlands event takes place right in the heart of the beautiful market town of Shrewsbury where hundreds of runners will set off from The Quarry, a beautiful riverside location. From here, runners will take in a loop of the park before making their way out along the banks of the River Severn.
The route then sees runners turn around and it is on this home stretch that they will cross the various bridges on the return to the finishline which is back where they started.
A spokesperson from race organisers, Shropshire Shufflers said: "The Severn Bridges was first put on in 2009 by Shropshire Council with the key goal of encouraging people who might not think of themselves as runners to try a 10K.
"When the council decided to stop running the event after COVID they asked us to take over. We leapt at the chance as our ethos is to be a welcoming and inclusive club to everyone interested in running at whatever pace, so the race fits in with that nicely."
Advice is that this isn’t a race for PB’s unless it’s your first 10K! But it is a race where you can enjoy the River Severn and the Quarry, have fun and be in with a chance to win a spot prize - anyone can be a winner!
