Autumn Half Sorted
Look ahead to the autumnal months and get yourself signed up for a half marathon (or 10K)...
It may still be spring, but if you fancy challenging yourself with an autumn half marathon then now is the time to sign up and embark on the necessary training. A fantastic option for runners in the Midlands is the Run Leicester Festival, returning on 26 October with its popular Half Marathon and 10K races.
Set against the backdrop of Leicester’s cityscape and leafy parks, the festival offers the perfect autumn challenge. Whether you’re a seasoned runner aiming for a strong finish before winter, or a first-timer searching for a friendly and inclusive event, the Run Leicester Half Marathon is the ideal race to close out your running calendar.
Both the 13.1-mile half marathon and 10K routes start and finish in the heart of the city at Victoria Park, taking in scenic stretches through the city centre and surrounding green spaces. With cooler temperatures and the golden hues of autumn all around, conditions are often ideal for running - and perfect for setting a new PB.
But it’s not just about the course. Organisers are promising an electric race-day atmosphere, with lively support from the crowd, cheering zones, entertainment and a bustling Runners’ Village. The whole city gets involved - from families lining the streets to volunteers handing out medals and water.
Beyond the race itself, there’s a deeper reason to lace up this autumn. All proceeds from Run Leicester go directly to LOROS Hospice, supporting specialist care for terminally ill patients and their families across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Every mile completed makes a difference - giving your finish line moment added purpose.
Those not running are encouraged to come along, soak up the atmosphere and lend their voices to the roar of encouragement along the route. And for anyone looking to get involved behind the scenes, volunteer opportunities are open - from marshalling to medal distribution.
