Run For Jo

Community, Unity And Fun Running!

Celebrate kindness, togetherness and everything that makes our communities stronger at this Yorkshire event...

Run for Jo returns to Oakwell Hall and Country Park on 22 June, bringing people together in a day of running, laughter and celebration. Held as part of the Great Get Together Weekend, this special event honours Jo Cox MP and her belief that 'we have far more in common than that which divides us'.

The day kicks off with the 6.5K cross-country challenge, a fantastic off-road course through the beautiful surroundings of Oakwell Hall. This is perfect for those looking for a rewarding challenge while enjoying the uplifting atmosphere of a truly special event. For families, the 2.5K fun run welcomes all ages and abilities - children, parents and even four-legged friends can get involved in the fun!

But Run for Jo is much more than just a race. It’s a festival of community spirit, where participants and spectators alike can soak up the friendly, positive atmosphere. The event will feature live music, choirs and entertainers, ensuring a feel-good experience for everyone, whether running or cheering from the sidelines. The fun continues with a variety of food stalls, a bar and the ever-popular Mascots’ Race - a hilarious highlight of the day.

Organisers told us: "One of the unique aspects of Run for Jo is the course entertainment, where choirs, singers and musicians line the route to keep runners motivated with music and cheers. It’s this uplifting spirit that makes the event truly special, turning it into a joyful celebration rather than just a race."

Teams are encouraged to take part, with a special group entry offer - enter 10 runners and receive two extra places for free. Whether you’re a workplace, school, sports club or just a group of friends, it’s the perfect way to join in the fun together.

All proceeds from the event go to More In Common Batley & Spen, supporting local community projects and continuing Jo Cox’s incredible legacy. Final word to organisers: "Run for Jo isn’t just about crossing the finish line - it’s about celebrating kindness, togetherness and everything that makes our communities stronger."
