This relates to: Altrincham 10K

The Altrincham 10K takes place on Sunday 6 September 2026, bringing runners back to the heart of one of Greater Manchester's best known market towns. Starting and finishing in Altrincham town centre, the closed road event offers an opportunity for runners of all abilities to take on a fast 10K while enjoying the atmosphere created by thousands of participants and supporters.

The route heads out through the streets of Altrincham before passing towards Hale and Davenport Green, returning to the town centre for a memorable finish. With full road closures throughout the course, runners can concentrate on maintaining their rhythm without traffic interruptions. Apart from one gentle rise, the route is generally flat, making it an attractive option for anyone chasing a personal best or tackling the distance for the first time.

Every finisher receives chip timed results, a themed medal, free official race photographs and post race goodies. Clearly marked kilometre markers, experienced marshals and an event village in the town centre help create a smooth race day experience, while excellent public transport links make getting to the start straightforward for both runners and spectators.

The event also supports The Christie Charity, one of Europe's leading cancer centres. Many participants choose to run in support of the charity, adding an extra sense of purpose to the day alongside the personal achievement of completing the course. Whether racing competitively or running for a cause, the event brings together a broad cross section of the local running community.

Altrincham itself has become an increasingly popular destination for major sporting events, and its lively town centre provides an ideal backdrop for race day. Cafés, shops and plenty of viewing points help create an enjoyable atmosphere before, during and after the race, making it a memorable occasion for supporters as well as competitors.

Whether you're targeting a new 10K personal best, building towards a longer race or simply looking for a well organised closed road event, the Altrincham 10K offers an excellent opportunity to enjoy fast running in a welcoming setting. With a supportive atmosphere and an accessible course, it promises a rewarding day for runners of every level.
