Run Beaver Run
With its a mix of rural beauty and rewarding effort, the rebranded Rattray Beaver Run looks set to live up to its reputation once again...
Taking place on 21 September, Perthshire's Rattray Beaver Run has been newly rebranded for 2025. Formerly the Rattray Blair Half Marathon and 10K, it is now under the stewardship of Blairgowrie and District Rotary and despite the name change promises another year of tough climbs and spectacular rural scenery.
Participants can choose between the half marathon and the 10K, both of which are known for their undulating courses that wind through some of the most beautiful landscapes in Perthshire. Described by organisers as 'dam tough', the Beaver Run lives up to its tagline with challenging terrain that rewards grit with breathtaking views.
The half marathon is widely regarded as one of the most scenic and physically demanding races of its kind in Scotland. Now in its second year, the 10K race has earned a similar reputation, offering runners a condensed version of the same rolling hills and peaceful country roads. Both routes start and finish near Rattray Primary School, with the half marathon featuring a brief section of rough track toward the end to keep things interesting.
All finishers will be rewarded with a bespoke medal and a high-quality snood, a practical and stylish memento of their efforts. Proceeds from the event will be donated to two excellent causes: Parkinson’s UK and Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance.
The post-race buffet has long been a highlight of this event and organisers are well aware of the high expectations surrounding it. While it’s no easy feat to follow in the footsteps of previous years’ legendary spreads, the new team is pulling out all the stops to deliver a feast that’s worthy of the challenge just completed.
Runner Caroline Fraser summed up the experience perfectly after a previous edition: “Brilliant run, amazing scenery takes your mind off the hills (well sort of).”
