HOKA-Dokey For Kris And Emma
The UK's largest 10K just got bigger as charity was the greatest winner...
The special 10th-anniversay Cancer Research UK London Winter Run on Sunday 23 February 2025 was a record-breaking success as almost 20,000 finished the sold-out event – making the UK’s largest 10K road race bigger than ever. And with over £880,00 raised for Cancer Research UK, the organisers are on track to reach the highest charity total achieved at the event.
Mild weather and blue skies contrasted the winter theme at 'London's coolest 10K' as runners tackled the 10K route that winds through the streets of central London, passing landmarks like St. Paul’s Cathedral and Bank as well as the beloved winter characters along the route, from playful Penguins to happy Huskies.
HOKA-sponsored athletes Kris Jones (Swansea Harriers, 29:22 PB) and Emma Pallant-Browne (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC, 34:32) got their skates on at the front.
Jones used the occasion to trim 10 seconds from his previous best set at Leeds in 2016. He has run 28:23.50 for 10,000m on the track and has represented GB in the World Half Marathon Championships with 63:05 in Poland in 2020. Pallant-Browne is an interesting character who also plays basketball, football, hockey, cricket, badminton...and the drums!
The men's podium was completed by Mathew Jackson (Liverpool Harriers, 30:13) and Owen Hind (Kent AC, 30:31). Louise Small (Aldershot, Farnham & District AC, 34:48) and Anya Culling (Clapham Chasers, 35:34) chased Pallant-Browne across the line in the women's race.
The specially-struck 10th-anniversary medals – inspired by the very first medal from 2015 – were handed out and there were warm polar bear hugs, emotional finishes, and many personal stories of inspiration behind every runner to finish.
The post-race celebrations continued at the après party to the sounds of Coldplay’s greatest hits performed by The Coldplay Tribute. Participants also enjoyed live cool downs with Runna, could try the latest HOKA footwear and had the opportunity to pin their reason for running to the inspiring Cancer Research UK ‘Your Reason’ board, which was filled with heartfelt stories.
