Kelpies Half Is Still An Option
Stunning Scottish half returns this month after successful 2024 debut...
There is still time to be a part of the second Kelpies Half Marathon, which returns to Helix Park in Falkirk on 27 September. After the success of its debut, the race is set once again to offer runners a flat and fast 13.1-mile course with spectacular views and a memorable finish beneath the famous Kelpies sculptures.
The route begins with an unforgettable start, as participants set off from the shadow of the iconic 30-metre-high horse heads before heading out towards the Firth of Forth. From there, the course takes runners across the modern Clackmannanshire Bridge, built in 2008, and back over the historic Kincardine Bridge, which dates to 1932. This rare opportunity to cross both bridges in one event promises stunning vistas on either side, with expansive views of the river and surrounding countryside.
Despite being described as a tough test in places due to exposure to the elements and a short hill near Kincardine, the course overall is flat, fast and designed to give runners every chance of achieving a personal best.
The finish line is one of the most striking in Scottish running. After retracing their steps through the Skinflats and canal paths, runners will once again see the towering Kelpies come into view before completing their race in the heart of the athlete’s village on the green. Organisers say: "With a flat approach to the line, many will find they can push hard in the final stretch for a strong finish!"
Every finisher will be rewarded with a commemorative medal and t-shirt. Organisers are confident that this year’s event will build on the excitement of its first edition, making the Kelpies Half Marathon a must-do on Scotland’s autumn running calendar.
