Revamped Route For Great Eastern Run
With an exciting new course layout you'd be mad not to sign up to this autumn half...
The Great Eastern Run is set to return to Peterborough on 12 October, with a super-flat and fast half marathon route that promises personal best potential and an electric race-day atmosphere. Organisers told us: "Following extensive feedback from runners and key organising partners, the 2025 half marathon route has been redesigned to enhance both the runner and spectator experience."
The updated course remains entirely on roads and tarmac and now features improved spectator access and better flow through key areas of the city. One of the highlights of the race is the section that passes through the historic grounds of Peterborough Cathedral, offering a scenic and inspiring backdrop for runners as they push for their best performance.
In 2024, the race attracted over 3,000 runners. Jonathan Escalante-Philips of Cambridge & Coleridge AC claimed victory in an impressive 1:03:55, with Georgia Schwiening leading the women’s field in 1:10:42. With the 2025 edition promising an even faster and more engaging route, organisers are expecting another strong turnout and competitive field.
All half marathon finishers will be rewarded with a bespoke medal, finisher goodies, and access to a lively event village with post-race refreshments and entertainment.
Also returning is the popular Anna’s Hope 5K Fun Run, which invites participants of all ages and abilities to get involved. Whether you’re a serious athlete looking for a shorter distance or a family out to enjoy a day of fitness and fundraising, the 5K is a great way to support Anna’s Hope or a charity of your choice while being part of the race-day celebrations.
