Folkestone 10 Filling Fast

The Folkestone 10 is an egg-ceptional Easter race...

Eleanor Weekes (pictured above, #812) was in her happy place at last year's Folkestone 10. The Ashford Striders member was well on her way to an impressive 1:22:37 chip time for 288th overall, from a record 745 finishers, in this enduringly popular Easter road race.

The 42nd edition takes place on Good Friday, 3rd April 2026, and the host club, Folkestone Running and Athletics Club, tells us that places are filling fast. To secure your entry before the race limit is reached, enter online here before 10:00am on Wednesday, 25th March 2026. No entries will be available on the day, and this race invariably sells out before the closing date.

Last year's race saw a record entry, with 745 finishers in 2:20:04. The individual winners were both former champions, Marshall Smith (Ashford AC, 51:22) and W45 Helen Gaunt (Tonbridge AC, 57:12 PB). The rock-solid race records are held by Mike Gratton of Invicta AC, with 48:45 in 1985, and Charlotte Dale (Invicta East Kent) with 53:21 in 2005 – which would have been an overall winning time on nine occasions since 2005!

Folkestone 10 is a flat, out-and-back blast on the traffic-free promenade between Hythe and Folkestone that has been a keynote event in the Easter race programme in Kent since 1984. Conditions can be a bit breezy. Our correspondent Alan Newman has run this race in oppressive heat as well as wind, rain, and hail – such are the vagaries of the British climate at this time of year!

Whatever the weather, the Folkestone 10 is always a scenic success due to its coastal course, and there is usually a chocolate treat awaiting finishers back on the grass of Hythe Green. The race is limited to 800 entries as the promenade can get busy with day-trippers, dog walkers, cyclists, and other users of this popular route.

Previous results and reports are at the runABC South race listing here.
