Festive Fun On Skye
Whether you are dashing or dawdling, Skye's santa run offers a morning of fantastic festive fun...
The streets of Portree will once again be filled with festive colour as the Skye Santa Dash & Dawdle returns on 6 December. Starting and finishing in Somerled Square, this event promises fun for all ages and abilities, bringing together runners, walkers, strollers and families for a 1.75-mile route through the heart of the town.
The Skye Santa Dash & Dawdle has become one of the island’s most loved December traditions, with Santas, elves, reindeer and all manner of Christmas characters taking to the streets in a festive celebration. Organisers say: "Participants are encouraged to dress up in their favourite holiday outfits. There will be prizes for the best individual and team costumes, so participants are encouraged to get creative with their Christmas attire!"
Every entrant receives festive headwear to wear with pride and a medal at the finish line to mark their achievement. Little ones can take part in the Tinsel Toddler Dash, a free mini-run for children under three, while four-legged friends are also welcome to join in the Santa Paws Parade, where prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed pooch!
After crossing the finish line, runners and walkers can enjoy festive treats including hot chocolate and sausage rolls as they soak up the seasonal atmosphere.
This year’s event will once again support Columba 1400, a Skye-based charity that empowers young people, including those from Portree High School, to discover their potential and create lasting change within their communities.
