A Weekend On The Trails
Take part in an unforgettable trail running adventure in The Highlands...
Trail runners seeking a true mountain adventure this summer will find it in the Torridon Explorer, a two-day guided running experience set in the wild and awe-inspiring landscapes of Glen Torridon. Taking place on the weekend of 2-3 August, this unique event invites runners to explore one of Scotland’s most dramatic and remote regions, where ancient sandstone peaks rise steeply from the sea and singletrack trails wind through some of the country’s most stunning terrain.
The Torridon Explorer is not a race but a journey through the mountains, blending runnable trails with steep walking sections and breathtaking views. Participants can expect a longer route on Saturday followed by a slightly shorter one on Sunday, though the exact itinerary will depend on weather and group ability.
Organisers say: "With the flexibility to adapt routes on the fly, no two editions of the Torridon Explorer are ever the same. The weekend package includes our expert guiding but leaves accommodation and meals up to participants, giving them the freedom to tailor their stay."
Running in Torridon is no small undertaking. The rocky terrain, high passes and exposed slabs demand experience and a solid base of fitness. Organisers recommend that runners be comfortable covering 25K and have experience of off-road running in mountainous terrain.
The event is about more than just covering ground - it’s about embracing the adventure, moving together as a team and taking time to appreciate the vast, wild beauty of the Torridon landscape. For those who relish a physical challenge and the rewards of running through truly epic scenery, the Torridon Explorer offers an unforgettable summer escape into the heart of the Highlands.
