Deveron Valley Races Showcase Aberdeenshire Scenery
Scenic races beside the Deveron...
The Deveron Harriers Festival of Running returns on 9 August 2026, bringing runners to Banff and the Deveron Valley for a day of racing that combines countryside roads, woodland trails and riverside scenery across four distances.
The event features a Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Junior 1K Fun Run, giving runners of all ages and abilities the opportunity to be part of one of Aberdeenshire's most scenic summer race days. Based around Duff House Rugby Club in Banff, the festival showcases some of the area's most attractive landscapes while providing a welcoming atmosphere for both experienced competitors and first time participants.
The Deveron Valley Half Marathon starts in Turriff and follows a predominantly quiet route along National Cycle Route 1 beside the River Deveron. As runners make their way towards Banff they are rewarded with open countryside views before entering woodland trails, crossing the impressive Bridge of Alvah and passing through the historic grounds of Duff House, including the Ice House and Mausoleum, before reaching the finish.
The 10K joins the route at Castle Eden and shares many of the same highlights. Combining road running with scenic rural surroundings, it offers an enjoyable challenge for runners looking for a shorter distance while still experiencing the character of the Deveron Valley course.
For those seeking an off road option, the 5K follows a multi terrain route through the grounds of Duff House. Younger runners can also take part in the Junior 1K Fun Run, which is staged within the rugby club grounds and nearby woodland.
The combination of riverside roads, woodland sections and historic landmarks gives the festival a distinctive feel. From the quiet roads between Turriff and Banff to the tree lined trails around Duff House, the routes provide plenty of variety while highlighting the natural beauty of the north east of Scotland.
With medals for all finishers, strong local support and race options ranging from 1K to Half Marathon distance, the Deveron Harriers Festival of Running continues to be a popular fixture on the Scottish running calendar and a memorable way to experience the scenery of the Deveron Valley.
