Running To Remember In Cumbria
Take on this run to honour our armed forces this November...
The Carlisle Remembrance Run will return on 8 November, offering the community a chance to unite and pay tribute to those who have served and continue to serve in the armed forces.
The 5K event, held the day before Remembrance Sunday, will take place in support of the Royal British Legion, which provides life-changing support to serving personnel, veterans and their families. All funds raised will help the charity continue its work in offering guidance, financial assistance, rehabilitation and combating loneliness among the armed forces community.
The run will feature a 5K event followed by a shorter 2K family fun run or walk. Organisers have timed the races so that those taking part in the 5K can also join the family event alongside friends and loved ones at no extra cost. Every participant will receive a commemorative medal, race number and refreshments at the finish.
In keeping with the spirit of the day, runners are encouraged to wear red or poppy-themed clothing. The event is non-competitive, with organisers stressing that the focus is on remembrance, togetherness and community spirit rather than winners’ prizes.
A spokesperson said: “This day is about coming together, and we want everyone to feel they can be involved. The Royal British Legion is the true winner. The focus is on remembrance, togetherness, and community spirit—whatever the weather.”
