Looking ahead to the weekend, one event in the runABC South race listing caught our eye. The Brocken Hurst Naked 5K returns to the 53-acre home of The Naturist Foundation at Orpington, Kent, for the 21st reprise on Sunday, 18 May 2025.

This event represents exceptional value. For just £19.50, plus £5 each for guests, you can enjoy a 5K run, as nature intended, through private woodland trails. After the race, you are welcome to stay for the day and enjoy all the superb facilities, including a recently refurbished 18-metre heated swimming pool, the sauna, and hot showers (20p).

The Teapot Café and licensed outdoor bar will be open, too. The site and race registration opens at 9:30am; you can join a course familiarisation walk at 11:00am; race start is at 11:30am; prizes and optional photos at 1:00pm, and from 3:00pm there will be fun races and 'It's a Knockout' styled games (weather permitting). 

The event is part of Brocken Hurst's annual May Fayre, with numerous stalls and music, promising a fun day out for the family. Best of all, there will be no laundry bill. As the Naturist Foundation says on its events website: "Always something on...except clothes"!

There is a useful New to Naturism FAQ section and general information on the Brocken Hurst website. All runners will receive a finisher's medal, and there is chip-timing, printed certificates on request, and trophies for the top three in each category.

One question that crossed our minds was regarding the pinning on of numbers. The event website addresses this issue: "We will again be using our chip-timing system for this race. You will be handed a returnable lightweight ankle tag which will record your time and place as you cross the finish line."

The Naturist Foundation at Brocken Hurst has an extensive calendar of fun events throughout the year and won the Best Naturist Venue UK 2023 and 2024 in the Naturist Travel Awards.
