Beat the Barge is an approximate 5 mile mixed terrain race based in Great Linford, Milton Keynes. Starting in Linford Manor Park, the course combines off road paths, canal towpaths, woodland trails and sections of the town's well known redway network.
The route passes through Stonepit Field before joining the Grand Union Canal towpath and other traffic free paths around Great Linford. The event is built around the challenge of trying to beat a barge along part of the course, creating a distinctive running experience unique to Milton Keynes.
Runners encounter a variety of surfaces throughout the route, including woodland sections, canal side paths and redways. The combination of parkland, waterside running and multi terrain trails makes this a varied 5 mile race that showcases some of the most recognisable running environments in Milton Keynes.
