Elite Makeover For Bath Half
World Championship places for the elite; same attractive race for the masses...
The makeover of one of the UK's most prestigious races is complete following the naming of a new lead sponsor as the GetPRO Bath Half Marathon gets ready to toe the start line on Sunday 16 March 2025.
GetPRO high protein post-workout snacks will start the recovery process for up to 10,000 runners in the fully-subscribed race, one of Britain's most popular half marathons since just over 600 entered the first race in 1982.
The new Bath Half organisers London Marathon Events (LME) and UK Athletics (UKA) have confirmed the 2025 race will host the official British Athletics trial race for the World Athletics Road Running Championships Half Marathon. The UK’s best distance runners will be invited to race for spots on the Great Britain team to race in San Diego on Sunday 28 September 2025.
Another innovation for the 2025 GetPRO Bath Half is an Elite Age Group category for the UK’s best masters runners aged 40 and above. Interested athletes must have run qualifying times – ranging from sub-1:08:00 (men) and sub-1:19:00 (women) at 40 to sub-2:30:00/sub-3:00:00 at 85 plus – on or after Monday 1 January 2024. Applications close at 17:00 on Friday 31 January using this entry form...
Spencer Barden, Head of Elite Athletes at London Marathon Events, said: “We are delighted that the GetPRO Bath Half will host the British Athletics trial race for the World Road Running Championships Half Marathon. The prize of a place on the Great Britain team for a major global championships will bring some of the country’s very best athletes to Bath on Sunday 16 March and create some thrilling racing for the city to enjoy.”
LME is the new organiser of the GetPRO Bath Half, having taken over running the hugely popular half marathon from Running High in February 2024. The event is the largest sporting and community event held in the city and the largest charity fundraising event in the southwest. The elite incentives will not affect the mass participation and charity elements that made this a much-loved race for over 40 years.
