Following on from a highly successful inaugural outing, the Aberfoyle Trail Half Marathon will return on 12 October this year for some more quality trail racing action! Organisers say: "Last year, this event sold out with just over one month till race day. If you're looking for an end of year trail challenge, this could be just the ticket!"

The race will once again take in some of the best trails around the Aberfoyle area - setting off from the town centre and venturing into the forest for 21K of stunning and challenging trails. The route takes in about 97% off-road tracks, with a mix of meandering fire-track, single track trails along the loch side and epic views of the mountains.

The inaugural Aberfoyle Trail Half Marathon saw over 200 runners taking part with entrants treated to a beautiful autumn day providing near perfect trail running conditions. Organisers recalled: "Aberfoyle Trail Half Marathon delivered the goods... The weather gods were very much on our side and the buzz was brilliant! Some stunning scenes out on course with the forest in its autumnal glow!"

Outsider Events is an Edinburgh-based events company, creating events and outdoor experiences that the organisers themselves would like to attend. They say: We believe there's so much more to an event than pinning on a number, giving it hell for leather (though there are definitely times for this) and heading home.

"We aim to look beyond the finish line and incorporate an innovative approach to our event management that includes not only the racer but spectators, friends and family too."
