Bank Holiday Waddle
This Leicestershire event promises racing action and lots of family fun...
Runners are set to flock to Wymeswold on 4 May for the annual Wymeswold Waddle - a much-loved five-mile race and 2K Family Fun Run. Organised by Wymeswold Running Club, the event promises a picturesque rural route, enthusiastic support and a fantastic atmosphere for participants of all abilities.
The five-mile race starts outside the Windmill Pub which also serves as the finish line. Runners will face an uphill challenge for the first half before enjoying a downhill return on closed roads with friendly marshals and strong local support throughout.
After the race, the village will come alive with live music, stalls, food and drink, and children’s rides. A highlight of the day will be the popular duck races along with the ‘Tough Ducker’ obstacle course for young competitors. Fancy dress is encouraged for those wanting to go the ‘full duck’ in costume.
The event concludes with the 2K Family Fun Run, offering a safe, closed-road course for young runners. Trophies await the top boy and girl finishers and all participants will receive a medal.
Organisers say: "With a mix of racing and family entertainment on offer, the Wymeswold Waddle is always a perfect bank holiday celebration for runners and spectators alike."
