The Skiddaw Fell Race is organised by Keswick Athletic Club and is one of the Lake District's classic mountain races. Starting and finishing at Fitz Park in Keswick, the race covers approximately 15.4K with around 960 metres of ascent, taking runners to the summit of Skiddaw, one of England's highest mountains.
The demanding route climbs from Keswick onto open fell before ascending steep mountain paths to the summit of Skiddaw. Fast descents, rocky terrain and exposed high ground create a challenging test of endurance and mountain running skills, rewarded by spectacular views across the Lake District and surrounding fells.
Held under Fell Runners Association rules, the race requires competitors to have appropriate mountain running experience and navigation skills. Its historic status, iconic summit and challenging mountain terrain have established the Skiddaw Fell Race as one of the premier events in the English fell running calendar.
