It's Beautiful, It's Brilliant, It's Balmoral
RunBalmoral will makes its return in April 2023...
Entries are open for one of Scotland's biggest and most spectacular events - RunBalmoral. The Aberdeenshire running festival, which regularly attracts more than 5000 entrants for its varied programme of races catering for all ages is back for its 24th outing over the weekend of 22-23 April 2023.
As in previous years, the action at RunBalmoral will be spread out over two days. Saturday will begin with the MPH primary schools 1.5K races and the NFU Mutal secondary schools 2.5K, followed by the Harbour Energy 5K and the Stena Drilling 10K.
The 5K race is equally suited to runners looking to complete their couch to 5K programme or those shooting for Olympic selection! Enthusiastic and supportive crowds, a spectacular setting and the presence of 1,000 runners makes it an unforgettable experience.
A spokesperson from RunBalmoral said: "Our fastest runners in the past have included the likes of two-time Olympian Andy Butchart, but the biggest cheers are often for those who finish further down the field. Everyone is a champion at Run Balmoral and we celebrate the achievements of every finisher in the same way."
The Stena Drilling 10K may not be the easiest of courses to run, but it has to be one of the most spectacular. It is known simply as 'The Race with the Hill' and for sure the iconic long climb through the woods to the halfway point offers a true test of endurance. But runners will be rewarded at the top by the Ballater Pipe Band whose music is guaranteed to spur those taking part on for the second half of the run.
Sunday will start with the Apollo duathlon, followed by the Bristow 15-mile and Bristow 3-mile trail races. The Bristow 15 mile and 3 mile trail races have been growing in popularity in recent years as more and more runners discover the beauty of the Deeside area. And, of course, there's also the Devil of Deeside Challenge in which runners are invited to tackle the 5K, 10K, duathlon and 15 mile trail races - no mean feat!
There will also be an enhanced Event Village, featuring a range of activities for youngsters, and quality food concessions will welcome runners and spectators alike on both days.
