Run to the Sea Bournemouth feed station

Bournemouth Beckons...

It's all downhill from here says Ultra Violet Run...

We all love a trip to the coast in the summer, but what about meandering down to Bournemouth in the cool of autumn when the crowds have left the beaches? That's where Ultra Violet Run delivers with their brilliant Run to the Sea Bournemouth 50K ultra on Saturday, 4 October 2025.

From the excitement of the start at Moors Valley Country Park near Ringwood to the historic Hengistbury Head – one of the most important Sites of Special Scientific Interest in England – following the Castleman Trailway along the old Southampton to Dorchester railway line for part of the way, this is a truly fantastic route.

The 50K, point-to-point course takes you through various terrain, including wonderful forest trails and coastal paths with far-reaching views. The predominantly flat route, net downhill as you would expect, provides a perfect introduction to ultra-marathon trail running.

A generous 9.5-hour cut-off is applied from the start time of 07:30am. Four well-stocked feed stations will keep you fuelled and hydrated; the entire course is fully signed with arrows; professional medical support is provided, and finish line goodies include a bespoke RTTS Bournemouth medal and FREE downloadable photos.

Optional extras include an RTTS t-shirt (£15); real-time tracking upgrade (£2); bus transport from the finish to the start (£8); squashable silicone cup (£3) to use at feed stations and the finish, and an RTTS Bournemouth personalised mug by Absolute Mug for £11.95. The basic entry fee is £70, with a bundle offer for five running as a team.

Last year, 542 official finishers were recorded and the winners were Tim Rooke (unattached, 3:45:39) at a pace of 4:30/km and Rachel Walsh (Alton Runners, 4:08:22), who finished ninth overall at just under 5:00/km pace. Around 90 runners finished inside five hours, running at an impressive sub-6:00/km pace!
