Super Sunday At Sandringham
1,500 runners were drawn to this Norfolk gem...
Good Running Events' Run Sandringham series got off to a cracking start with 263 finishers in the Sandringham 5K and 1,313 competitors in the Sandringham 10K on Sunday, 15 June 2025.
The 20,000-acre Sandringham Estate in Norfolk is the private winter retreat for Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla. Sandringham Estate includes an organic farm, a sawmill, residential and commercial properties situated in the heart of the Norfolk Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The royal connections began in 1862, when Sandringham House and just under 8,000 acres of land were purchased for Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, later Edward VII, as a country home for him and his future wife, Princess Alexandra of Denmark. The house is listed as Grade II, and the gardens, park, and woodlands are on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens.
This majestic setting formed the backdrop to both races over the weekend. The route passes through the Private Royal Estate and the races are licensed by the Trail Running Association. The Event Village is filled with music and a live commentary MC, food and drink partners, entertainment, a warm-up area, medal engraving, and partner charity stalls. Massage is available pre-event and for that all-important rub down once you’ve finished.
This year's victors in the Run Sandringham 5K were Corben Reynolds (Great Yarmouth & District AC, 16:33) and ninth-placed overall Layla Omar-Davies (Saffron AC, 20:10) as 70 runners finished before half an hour had elapsed.
The 1,313 runners completed the two loops of the 10K course within 1:50:00. Mitchell Bunn (West Norfolk AC, 34:02) and Rachel Gilworth (Leamington Cycling and AC, 37:57) set the pace at the front as 240 runners breached the 50-minute threshold.
The Run Sandringham series continues at this prestigious venue with the Sandringham 24 Hour on 8-10 August; the Sandringham Half Marathon and Community Mile on 28 September, and the Sandringham Luminate 5K in November – all raising thousands of pounds for good causes.
