The Rab Helvellyn Sky Ultra is organised by Lake District Sky Trails and takes place in Patterdale in the eastern Lake District. The event is a 57K Ultra Marathon mountain race, forming part of the Lake District Sky Trails programme and offering a demanding challenge across some of the region’s highest terrain.
The course follows technical mountain trails, rocky sections, ridgelines and fell terrain, with 3700m of ascent. The route includes Helvellyn via Striding Edge and Swirral Edge, together with other high Lake District summits and valleys, creating a challenging sky race requiring strong mountain running skills.
The event features a fully marked course, checkpoints, valley support, timing, GPS tracking, safety support and a finisher meal. Race HQ and the start and finish are based in Patterdale, providing a focused mountain race experience in the heart of the Lake District.
