Positivity on the go at Covid-19 Virtual Gnosall 10K
All in it together at the Covid-19 Virtual Gnosall 10K.
Everyone was in the mood to enjoy themselves at the Covid-19 Virtual Gnosall 10K (13/14 June) as runners and walkers from around the world put their best foot forward for a local worthwhile cause. They were determined to complete the distance while still following government guidelines and there were plenty of smiles, laughs and more than a few reasons to celebrate.
200 runners and walkers took part in this virtual event hosted by Staffordshire-based Gnosall Ladies Running Club (GLRC), Fit Box Personal Training Studio and Race the World. They came from all corners of the UK and further afield including the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
Participants chose their own route, a section of which had to be off-road as the actual race is held on multi-terrain, and recorded their session before emailing the evidence to the event organisers. Photos and selfies were actively encouraged and the funniest image won free entry to the 2021 Gnosall 10K.
There were PBs, a couple of people who completed their first ever 10K and a group that ran the Gnosall 10K route and were clapped and cheered by members of the public.
Medals will be posted out in due course and all profits from the entry fees go to the Gnosall Carnival Fund to support the upkeep of the village.
The event was a success on several levels as summed up by Maria Kershaw of GLRC who said: “It brought the running and walking community together and gave everyone a focus and sense of purpose for the weekend. There was a 'feel-good’ factor based on their achievements as well as contributing to a local worthy cause. It was lovely to have such an uplifting event in these challenging times and I imagine this won’t be the last virtual Gnosall 10K.”
