Wild Deer Gets Bigger

Two new locations added to the packed Wild Deer Events programme...

Wild Deer Events have announced two exciting new race locations to add to their already comprehensive programme. First up is Rother Valley Country Park in Sheffield on 9 November, where the inaugural Memorial 10K and 5K trail runs will take place. Looking further ahead into 2026 Fountains Abbey will host runners on 1 February with various distances on offer.

The setting for the Memorial Races could hardly be better for autumn racing, with miles of paths through woodlands, meadows and around sparkling water, offering both challenge and tranquility in equal measure. Organisers comment: "The routes wind around the Rother Valley's lakes and woodland paths, making it an event suited to both those chasing a personal best and those who simply want to enjoy the views!"

The start time of 11.02am is chosen to allow for a two-minute silence in honour of Memorial Sunday before the race begins. The event is also cani-cross friendly, welcoming runners with four-legged companions to join in.

Fountains Abbey in Ripon offers an equally stunning setting and gives runners the rare opportunity to race through a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to 1132.

Speaking about the Fountains Abbey Wild Trail Runs organisers say: "This awe-inspiring location will host 5K, 10K and half marathon trail races, combining a challenging workout with an unforgettable journey through centuries of history."
