Moira’s Run

Running In Moira’s Memory

Much-loved charity run returns to Glasgow's Queen’s Park later this month...

Glasgow’s Queen’s Park will once again host Moira’s Run, a much-loved 5K event that brings people together to celebrate the life of Moira Jones while raising vital funds for families across the UK affected by homicide.

Scheduled for 19 October, and with spots still available, the annual run supports The Moira Fund, a charity established in Moira’s memory after her tragic murder in 2008. Since its creation, the fund has helped more than a thousand families by providing grants to cover essential costs, from funerals to clothing for court appearances.

This year participants can join the event in Queen’s Park or take part virtually wherever they are in the world. All finishers will receive a medal, and the run is open to everyone, whether walking, jogging or running. Organisers encourage a fun, inclusive atmosphere, with first-time runners, fancy dressers and families all welcomed.

Thanks to the support of Victim Support Scotland, who are covering all organisational costs, every penny from entry fees will go directly to The Moira Fund. Organisers say: "Each year the event raises thousands of pounds and creates a warm, supportive atmosphere in one of Glasgow’s most beautiful parks. Moira’s Run continues to be both a celebration of life and a vital source of support for those facing the devastation of violent crime."
