Off-road family fun at Calderglen Country Park
Entries open Sunday for mid-summer evening trail festival
Families looking to hit the trails this summer should head online Sunday night to secure their places in the 2022 Calderglen Harriers Trail Running Festival.
This year’s event will be held on the evening of Friday, 24 June, at Calderglen Country Park in East Kilbride.
The family friendly festival will feature four pre-entry only events. The 1K race, Ewan Murray Memorial 3K race and 5K race will all be run on the trails of Calderglen Country Park; the 10K race will be through the park and out to Langlands Moss.
There will also be a 100m toddler dash for pre-schoolers, which can be entered on the night.
All routes are suitable for trail or road shoes but not wheelchairs. Running with dogs is also prohibited.
Organisers Calderglen Harriers have partnered with Trees not Tees, offering runners the option of planting a tree in their sustainable reforestation project. Instead of receiving a free technical race t-shirt, runners choosing this option will receive a certificate and photo of their tree and its new home.
£1 from all 5K and 10K entries will also be donated to the event’s chosen charity, Deafblind Scotland.
Entries to the 10K are limited to 250, the 5K 200, the 3K (under 12s and under 15s) 150 and the 1K (under 9s) just 100 – and close at midnight, 21 June or earlier if race capacity reached.
Organisers are also proud to note that their event is LGBT and non-binary friendly, with male, female and non-binary entry categories.
